Rainwater Clearance Project
A project aimed at improving rainwater drainage systems.

Overview
Blocked gutters may seem like a minor issue, but over time they can lead to major, costly damage—especially in urban commercial and residential properties. When rainwater can’t drain properly, it spills over the sides of gutters and begins seeping into render, brickwork, and structural joints. What starts as a small overflow can eventually compromise a building’s exterior integrity, leading to damp, cracks, and in severe cases, foundational damage.
At SeeForth Services, we’ve seen first-hand how regular gutter clearance prevents these long-term problems. In fact, some of the most expensive repair projects begin with neglected drainage. That’s why we prioritise preventative maintenance—clearing gutters not just when there’s a visible blockage, but routinely as part of a wider facilities strategy.
Whether you're managing a high-rise, mid-rise, or older heritage property, keeping your gutter systems clear is one of the simplest and most effective ways to protect your building investment. We use a combination of rope access, MEWP, and safe ground-based vacuum systems to access and clean even the most challenging drainage setups.

Blocked gutters don’t just overflow — they silently destroy render and brickwork, costing thousands in repairs
The work
For this project, SeeForth Services was tasked with clearing all gutters and downpipes across the property, many of which were located in difficult-to-access areas. Our experienced rope access team was deployed to carry out the work safely and efficiently without the need for scaffolding or disruptive access towers.Using IRATA-trained operatives, we accessed every section of the building’s drainage system—from high-level guttering to hidden downpipes—and performed a thorough clearance of all debris, blockages, and build-up. This ensured proper water flow and helped prevent future structural damage.
Upon completion, we delivered a comprehensive photo report documenting each section of the guttering system before and after works. This gave the client complete transparency on the condition of their drainage and clear proof of the work carried out—supporting both their facilities records and long-term maintenance planning. This project is a strong example of how our specialist methods minimise disruption while maximising results for high-risk and hard-to-reach tasks.

The results
The project was completed successfully with all gutters and downpipes fully cleared, ensuring proper drainage and reducing the risk of long-term structural damage. Our rope access method allowed us to reach every area safely and efficiently, without the need for intrusive scaffolding or costly access platforms.
One of the standout results was the detailed photo report we provided. This included before-and-after images of each section, giving the client clear visual evidence of the work carried out and the current condition of the building’s high-level areas—many of which are not visible from the ground.
The client expressed their satisfaction with both the service and the documentation, noting how valuable it was to have an official record for ongoing facilities management. They now have peace of mind knowing their drainage system is functioning properly and that potential issues have been identified and addressed proactively.
