Areas we cover

Window cleaning in Canary Wharf and Docklands

SeeForth cleans glass and facades across the Isle of Dogs, from the towers around the Wharf to the offices and apartment blocks along Limeharbour and Millharbour, and east to the Royal Docks. We are based on Paul Street, EC2, on the other side of the City, so a Docklands job is a short drive rather than a day out.

A building we look after on Limeharbour

Every area page on this site is built on work we have actually done there. This one starts with an office building on the Isle of Dogs that has had us back twice.

Limeharbour, Isle of Dogs, E14

First visit, November 2023

An internal and external clean of the glazing for the building's managing company. Reach and wash from the ground for the outside, hand tools and a squeegee inside, one visit, no scaffold and no lift.

Limeharbour, Isle of Dogs, E14

Return visit, July 2024

An external clean of the same building. The client wanted the glass finished before the working day got going, so the crew was booked for 6 am and confirmed in writing that the work would be complete before midday.

What we clean in Docklands

High rise window cleaning

Rope access and MEWPs for the towers and residential blocks that make up most of the skyline here. Method, anchors and rescue plan are set out in the RAMS before anyone goes up. See our high rise window cleaning page.

Commercial window cleaning

Reach and wash from the ground for offices, showrooms and apartment blocks up to five storeys, on a schedule or as a one-off. Details on the mid rise window cleaning page.

Internal glass

Lobbies, partitions, atriums and internal windows, cleaned by hand so the office or the residents' lounge can stay in use while we work.

Cladding and render

Low pressure soft washing for cladding panels, render and stone that have picked up river grime and organic growth. See cladding and render cleaning.

Gutters and eyebolts

Gutter and outlet clearance on flat roofs and balcony channels, and eyebolt testing so the anchors are certified before the next rope access visit.

Fire risk assessments

Residential towers, mixed-use blocks and offices across E14 and E16, assessed by IFSM registered Level 6 assessors. See fire risk assessments.

Working around the Wharf

Docklands is a different job from the City. The buildings are taller, the sites are more open and the water is never far away. This is what we plan for.

  • Estate rules. On the Canary Wharf estate itself the estate management runs its own contractor induction and permit process. Outside the estate, a MEWP on the public highway needs a licence from Tower Hamlets or Newham. We tell you at quotation which applies and what it does to the start date.
  • Wind off the river. Rope access and MEWP work both have wind limits, and the riverside towers catch more of it than the streets inland. We watch the forecast in the days before a drop and agree a fallback date with you when we book.
  • Quaysides and water. Elevations that face a dock cannot always take a MEWP on the quay edge. Rope access from the roof is usually the answer, which is why we ask about roof anchors early.
  • Buildings with their own cradle. Many towers here have a building maintenance unit. Where it is certified and suits the work we plan around it; where it is not, we bring our own access and say so in the quote.
  • Early starts. Reach and wash around a busy lobby or a restaurant terrace is best done before the first commuters come off the Jubilee line. Our crews can start at 6 am.
  • Occupied residential towers. Notices to residents, agreed floor-by-floor timings and a supervisor on the ground for the whole visit.

Districts we cover

Canary Wharf and the estate. The Isle of Dogs, including Millharbour, Marsh Wall, Limeharbour and Westferry. Poplar, Blackwall and East India Dock Road. The Royal Docks, Silvertown and the Victoria and Albert docks. Limehouse and Wapping to the west. For the Square Mile, see our City of London page.

How to book

  1. Send the address, the number of storeys and a photo of the elevation, and tell us whether it is a one-off or a schedule.
  2. We look at the building. Anything above five storeys gets a site visit so we can check the roof, the anchors and the ground below.
  3. Fixed quote with the access method, the start time, any estate or highway permit lead time and a fallback date for weather.
  4. The clean. RAMS signed off in advance, a named supervisor on site, and a note when the job is done.

Common questions

Do you work on the Canary Wharf estate?

Yes. The estate management has its own contractor induction and permit process, which takes time to clear, so we raise it with you at quotation rather than the week before the visit.

How do you clean a tower that has its own cradle?

We check the building maintenance unit's certification and whether it reaches the elevations you need cleaned. Where it does, we plan the work around it. Where it does not, we use rope access from tested anchors or a MEWP, and the quote says which.

What happens if it is too windy?

Rope access and MEWP work both stop above set wind speeds, and the riverside towers are more exposed than most. We watch the forecast before a booked drop and agree a fallback date when we book, so a windy morning does not cost you a month.

Do you clean inside as well as outside?

Yes. The Limeharbour building on this page had an internal and external clean on the first visit. Inside we use hand tools and a squeegee and work around the office.

How early can you start?

Our crews can start at 6 am. The July 2024 visit on Limeharbour was booked that way so the glass was finished before midday.
