Rainwater Goods Clearance — Brunswick House, Cambridge
Blocked gutters, standing water, and silted drains across a multi-storey residential building — cleared, documented, and protected under a planned maintenance contract.

Overview
SeeForth Services attended Brunswick House, 87 Newmarket Road, Cambridge in March 2026 to carry out scheduled rainwater goods clearance under a 2-year planned maintenance contract with Derwent Facilities Management Ltd.
On arrival, balcony gutter channels across all elevations contained compacted leaf debris, silt, and organic matter, with several locations showing standing water due to blocked outlets. Flat roof drainage outlets had accumulated significant silt and debris around dome strainers — several of which had been displaced — and hopper heads showed minor debris accumulation throughout.
All works were carried out using industrial rope access with portable weight anchorage systems, with IRATA-qualified operatives descending to balcony channel level across all elevations. Full RAMS documentation was in place prior to commencement.

Blocked drains don't announce themselves — until the damage is already done.
The work
Our operatives cleared all balcony-level gutter channels across every elevation of the building, removing compacted leaf debris, silt, moss, and organic matter. Channels were swept clean and outlets confirmed free-flowing.
All flat roof drainage outlets were cleared of silt and debris. Dome strainers were cleaned, refitted where displaced, and confirmed seated correctly. Surrounding membrane areas were swept clean. Hopper heads were cleared of cobwebs, debris, and organic matter, with leaf guards checked and refitted where necessary. All downpipe connections were confirmed clear and free-flowing across the building.
Every element of the works was photographically documented in a full job completion report, providing the client with a clear record of condition before, during, and after works — along with observations and recommendations for the next scheduled visit.

The results
All rainwater goods across Brunswick House were cleared and confirmed free-flowing on completion. Balcony gutter channels were fully cleared across all elevations. All flat roof dome strainers were cleaned, refitted, and confirmed seated correctly. All hopper heads and downpipe connections were verified clear.
A full photographic job completion report was issued to Derwent Facilities Management, with observations and recommendations for the next scheduled visit, including a note on increasing clearance frequency during the autumn leaf-fall season to prevent standing water in the balcony channels.
Works are scheduled to continue under the 2-year planned maintenance contract, with the next clearance visit due in September 2026.
